H2S retrieval from Bayou Sauvage

by eustatic | June 28, 2012 17:38 28 Jun 17:38 | #2663 | #2663

Previously: H2S test experimental protocol: Bayou Savage, LA H2S strip placement in Bayou Sauvage NWR, Orleans Parish, LA

Photos here

and here

There was some dew on film canisters, good idea to put holes down.

duct tape came off, strip still inside.

limited water level change, no tropical storm--yay. 0 rain.

Weather record here, will download the past five days (since sat)

GPX

Covered with Gaffe tape or given new caps. Tried to use new caps where available.

There remain 4 canisters with unused strips. Should i do controls? measure if there is anything coming from duct tape or gaffe tape?

helped by my new assistant

anybody want a dog? it's brand new.

Hi the test strips just arrived here. I'll fix them next week! How should we display the data? Thanks for mailing them!

How should we display data?

Sara, I will email you on this

here's a spreadsheet http://db.tt/eF9QWxxK

photos of the strips as a table?

if height matters more than opening, there are four groupings ranked by opening method.

sorry if this is a bit confusing, but this is how the sample design ended up.

3a, 4a 1a, 2a 1b,2b,3b,4b (a control for site variation)

7a, 8a 5a, 6a 5b,6b,7b,8b

3c,4c 1c,2c 1d,2d,3d,4d

7c,8c 5c,6c 5d,6d,7d,8d

2) if method of opening matters more than height,

3a,4a 7a,8a 3c,4c 7c,8c

1a,2a 5a,6a 1c,2c 5c,6c

1b,2b,3b,4b 5b,6b,7b,8b 1d,2d,3d,4d 5d,6d,7d,8d

Thanks for this Scott, I am just working on a research note about the samples so you and Shannon can see some images: in shipping some of the labels came unstuck so there are four canisters that I can't identify. I'm posting some photos in the hope that you can Shannon have ideas about how we can positively ID the unknown canisters.

---This comment is a duplicate! I encountered an error in posting comments, today--looks like Scott you might have experienced that too? I received an error saying the window had timed out so I didn't think the comment went through?
