The Public Laboratory website will not render correctly in Internet Explorer 6 or earlier. To view it properly, please use an up-to-date browser, such as Firefox, Chrome, or another standards-compliant browser. It's a good idea to upgrade anyways -- olderversions of IE pose a security risk for your computer.
But I don't know what I need to activate on my MacBook 10.6.8 to start capturing pictures. My MacBook does have a built in camera and I default to Firefox. Where do I go to get information on this?
The key instruction for you there might be "Once you have an assembled spectrometer connected to your computer or smartphone, go to http://spectralworkbench.org and click Capture."
For those who might have similar issues, just pointing out that this has been getting discussed in a thread on the plots-spectrometry@googlegroups.com listserve as well: https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!topic/plots-spectrometry/z6pffLI_G-w

If you have any trouble getting things to work, there are lots of people joining the conversation at the Google group dedicated to the spectrometers:

Be sure to include details about the type of spectrometer, the success you have had so far, and maybe a photo or two.
Good Luck,
Chris
